Hi, I'm Karen. I play the flute.

I first started this project with the tonic. In other words, I has to choose the
note I wanted my song to revolve around. In my scale. In order to figure the F major and minor scales, I had to use the major and minor formula, (WWH)W(WWH) and (WHW)W(HWW). The W means there had to be a whole between that note and the next note and the H means that there had to be a half step between that note and the next note in the scale. After following these formulas, I found that the F major scale was F, G, A, B flat, C, D, E, F. I also found out that the F minor scale was F, G, A flat, B flat, C ,D flat, E flat, and F. |

Now, we move on to part 2 of the project. In part 2, I took the notes from the
scale I made in part 1 and made a "song" using those same notes. It wasn't easy because even though I had the ability to make a song using my creativity, I still had to follow the rules that are used in order to make the song sound nice. For example, I had to start and end my song using the tonic. There were many rules that had to be followed, but it was worth it because in the end my song came out sounding nice. |

In part 3 I had to take my song that was created in part 2 and create a harmony
that would fit perfectly with the melody. It wasn't as easy as it sounds like because in order to make it sound as nice as I wanted to, I had to make triads using notes that were used in the melody. A triad is like a snow man, but it uses notes instead of snow, and if one triad didn't sound right, I had to use another, taking up a lot of time. |
